Real Madrid: Zinedine Zidane reacts to Isco criticism

On Saturday, television cameras caught Isco complaining about Zidane's selection policy after the Spain international was left as an unused substitute during Los Blancos' 3-1 derby win over Barcelona.

The French manager has since played down the severity of the incident, and shared his view that Isco's frustrations were borne from a desire to play, which is ultimately a positive thing for him and his team.

"It's ambition. He wants to play. That's positive. Players always want to play. They have to be ready and prepared to play when it's their turn. It's always been like that in this team," the 48-year-old explained, per AS.

Isco has made just two starts and two substitute appearances out of a possible seven for Los Blancos so far this season, totalling 148 minutes on the pitch, and played no part in either of the LaLiga giants' latest two matches.
