LaLiga would not resume if Real Madrid were league leaders claims ex-Barcelona president

LaLiga has been proposed to return on 8 June, with reigning champions Barcelona holding a slender two-point advantage over Zinedine Zidane's men.

With 11 rounds of fixtures remaining in the Spanish top-flight, Joan Gaspart, who led the Blaugrana between 2000 and 2003 suggests the league would have been cancelled had Los Blancos been leading the table.

"If Madrid had finished as leader before the confinement, LaLiga would have ended," he told Tertulia del 10 del Barca.

With Quinque Setien's side returning to training this week after the national lockdown in Spain, Gaspart also commented on the never-ending Neymar transfer saga from Paris Saint-Germain.

"I would love to see Neymar at Barcelona, I understand that he can still contribute," he said about the Brazil superstar who left in a world-record €222-million deal in 2017.

"What I don't know is the fine print. I forgive what it takes to get him back. I would like him to play for Barça."
