Atletico Madrid sign Central African Republic international Geoffrey Kondogbia from Valencia

LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Central African Republic international Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Los Colchoneros have announced the arrival of Kondogbia from LaLiga rivals Valencia for an undisclosed fee, with the France-born midfielder having signed a four-year deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.

"Atletico de Madrid and Valencia CF have reached an agreement over the transfer of Geoffrey Kondogbia," the club announced on their official website on Tuesday.

"[Kondogbia] passed his medical at the Clinica Universidad de Navarra and signed a contract until 2024."

Kondogbia, who played five matches for France before switching nationalities in 2018, arrives as an apparent replacement for Ghana international Partey, who completed a move to Premier League side Arsenal on 5 October.

It is reported that Atleti have paid about €11 million (R206 million) to land the CAR star's signature, and that the club made use of LaLiga's special provisions to register him immediately, outside of the transfer window.
