Mbappe saves Real in five-goal thriller

Real Madrid remain in the hunt for the LALIGA title with a crucial 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday afternoon.

Madrid had Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez back from suspension, but were without Antonio Rudiger and Eduardo Camavinga through injury.

Arda Guler lit up the clash past the half-hour mark when he shaped up on the edge of the box to curl in the top-corner.

Los Blancos bagged a second in the final minutes to halftime after Mbappe feed on a layoff from Bellingham following a counter-attack and finished from the edge of the box.

Mbappe tormented the visitors again two minutes in the second period when he left his marker in the wake to find the bottom-corner.

Celta pulled one back with under 20 minutes remaining when Javi Rodriguez riffled in the roof of the net from close-range following a corner.

Los Blancos advantage came under threat six minutes later as Williot Swedberg made a smart run in-behind and finished off Iago Aspas’ through pass.

There were no comeback though as the home team managed to hold ground and confirmed the victory in the end.

Valladolid 1-2 FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona staged a second-half comeback to secure a 2-1 win over Real Valladolid and edged closer to the LaLiga title on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen started for Barcelona after a long lay-off while Ansu Fati and Pau Victor also started.

The Blaugrana enjoyed a disappointing opening though six minutes in when a looping shot from the area by Ivan Sanchez deflected beyond a sprawling Ter Stegen.

With the match favouring the host, Barca manager Hansi Flick were forced to alter personnel as the lively Lamal came on for the injured Dani Rodriguez.

Barcelona went to the break trailing, but were out firing at the resumption as substitute Raphinha latched on a rebound from goalkeeper Andre Ferreira to finish smartly.

The league leaders gained total control after levelling and bagged the winner when Fermin Lopez got inside the area to apply a first-time finish from Gerard Martin’s delivery.

Barca nearly had a third towards the final ten minutes when Hector Fort charged in the box after combining with Lamal and fired off the base of the post.

With time running out, Valladolid pushed for a draw late on but a tremendous save from Ter Stegen repelled Juanmi Latasa and guided the Blaugrana to victory.
