The richest owners in the English Premier League

The latest billionaire set to invest in Newcastle United will bring in an estimated wealth nearly 10 times the amount of the Glazer family who own Manchester United.

A reported £300-million deal with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) is set to be completed imminently as Mike Ashley's 13-year reign with the Magpies looks set to finally come to an end.

And the arrival could well shake up the order in the Premier League with the vast financial backing set to change the landscape of the historic English club.

The consortium led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman holds an estimated net worth of £320-billion (R7.5-trillion) and close associate Yasir Al-Rumayyan will be announced as the club's new chairman.

According to the Daily Mail, the incoming investors will rank as the richest owners in the league, with the likes of the Glazers' £3.6-bn estimated worth, dwarfed in direct comparison.

Currently ranked in ninth amongst the league's richest owners, Tottenham's Joe Lewis, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha of Leicester City and Aston Villa's Nassef Sawiris ranks higher.

While the top-five holds Guo Guangchang of Wolves, Stan Kroenke of Arsenal, Chelsea's Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour of Manchester City.
