Manchester United got their first win of the season in the Premier League following a thrilling 3-2 victory over Burnley on Saturday evening.
Diogo Dalot made a return for the host and replaced Patrick Dorgu, while Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster led the line for the Clarets.
The Red Devils enjoyed an electric opening quarter as Mason Mount beat Kyle Walker and won a penalty, but it was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
It didn’t stop the host applying pressure as Leny Yoro missed target with a header from a corner a couple of minutes thereafter.
Burnley finally cracked inside the half-hour mark when Josh Cullen failed to keep out a header off the crossbar by Casemiro and deflected the ball into his own net.
The lead was overshadowed when an injury on Matheus Cunha required the home team to make a change and introduced Joshua Zirkzee.
Ruben Amorim’s men went looking for a second goal through a glancing header by Mount following a corner, but it found the upright five minutes to the break.
Foster came good ten minutes after the break after making a timeous run to the heart of the six-yard area to tap in a cross from Jacob Bruun Larsen.
The joy was short-lived as the host restored advantage when Mbeumo made space for himself on the near side to get his first goal for the club, turning home a cross from Diogo Dalot.
Burnley got on level terms again midway in the second period and saw Jaidon Anthony pounced on a loose ball in the box.
However, the Red Devils had the final say as Fernandes slammed in from the penalty spot in added time following a foul on Amad Diallo, handing the hosts their first win of the season.
