Arsenal & Spurs play out four-goal thriller

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur settled for a share of the spoils after playing to a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Fabio Vieria and Eddie Nketia were recalled to the Gunners line-up, with Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard coming out after the 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.

The Gunners had a big chance to break the deadlock in the 14th minute when Nketiah pounced on a poor back-pass from  Destiny Udogie before seeing close-range strike brilliantly saved goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Mikel Arteta's charges found the breakthrough when Bukayo Saka's speculative deflected in via the leg of Christian Romero for the own goal, with Vicario left helpless by the change of direction.

After waves of Arsenal domination, Spurs grew stronger in the closing stages and found the equaliser on 42 minutes when James Maddison did well to pick out Son Heung-min, who flicked the ball into the far corner.

The away side were awarded a penalty shortly after the break for a handball on Romero following a VAR review, which allowed Saka to convert for his first goal of the game.

The visitors got back on level terms a minute later when Son sent a composed finish past Raya after some brilliant work by Maddison, who robbed Jorginho of possesion and grabbed the assist.

Spurs enjoyed a lot more of the ball as the second half went on but they struggled to carve out another clear-cut opening as time began to run out in the second half.

That was the trend for the remainder of the encounter, as the two sides settle for the point which keeps their respective unbeaten records in tact.
