Klopp reveals big names he regrets not signing

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has named a number of stars he would have loved to sign including two Premier League superstars.

There's no shortage of superstars when it comes to players Klopp has coached during his esteemed managerial career.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, and Virgil van Dijk are some of the names that spring to mind, with all three fully establishing themselves as household names under Klopp.

Klopp has now revealed that despite being satisfied with all the players he has coached, one individual he would have loved to sign is Man City's Kevin De Bruyne.

Speaking at the 10-year anniversary of Hout Bay United Football Community in Cape Town, Klopp said: "I have a good mindset to be happy. So when I'm happy, I'm happy. And when I'm happy with my team, I'm happy with my team.

"Let me say it like this... if we had Kevin De Bruyne in the last five years."

He added that he also previously missed out on other players he would have loved to coach.

"There's a Dortmund supporter, a couple of Dortmund supporters here, so I have to apologise to them because I didn't sign Sadio Mané for [Borussia] Dortmund.

"I realised it when we then took him to Liverpool. I thought, 'Oh my God, that's a lot of money for a guy I could have had three years ago for much less.'

"And I didn't sign Son [Heung-min] from Tottenham, and at that time, I think it was Hamburg.

"And I don't even remember why. I just faced him later in the Premier League and thought, 'Oh my God, you dumb sh*t.'

"That's pretty much it, I think. The only two. I had a lot of players that were close [to signing], that we could have got, and then somebody made a decision that meant we didn't get them."
