Chelsea 'make decision' on sacking Pochettino

Chelsea have now reportedly made a big decision on manager Mauricio Pochettino's job following their dismal start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Despite growing pressure, the Argentine still retains the backing of the Blues' higher-ups, who believe he will soon turn their fortunes around, according to The Telegraph

Chelsea's 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa on Sunday marked their third defeat of the season, leaving the London club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, despite spending a staggering £348 million (R8 billion) in the latest transfer window.

Immediately after that defeat, Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali reportedly paid a visit to the players' dressing room, sparking speculation that Pochettino's job could be in jeopardy.

However, it is now claimed the club's owners have decided to refuse to panic about the team's current position and remain adamant the performances they have seen thus far will soon translate into positive results, a sentiment shared by the manager.

"No doubt, in time, I think the team is going to perform, but, of course, now we cannot hide the situation," Pochettino told Chelsea's official website after the loss to the Villans.

"It's a situation that hurts all the fans, the club, us and the players."

He also admitted that the owners are dismayed by their slow start to the season, but urged them to carry on supporting his project at Stamford Bridge.

"They are disappointed, they arrived at the club and are so excited to build a project. Of course, they feel disappointed, but at the same time they need to support the plan," the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager added.
