Chelsea coach slams EPL for Christmas Eve game

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has hit out at the Premier League for scheduling one of their games on Christmas Eve this year.

It has been confirmed that Chelsea will play Wolverhampton Wanderers on 24 December, which is the first Christmas Eve game since Manchester United faced Leeds United in 1995.

Chelsea's supporters group has already expressed their disappointment with the decision and the Argentine tactician has now had his say on the matter.

"Our supporters are not happy? Me either," Pochettino told reporters, as per Goal.

"I'm not happy also because [December] 23rd is my anniversary with my wife and I need to travel to Wolves and I'm not going to spend the night of the 23rd in my house.

"I believe I am not going to convince her to come [to Wolverhampton]. And the 24th for Argentinian people is a really important night and [I] hope to arrive to celebrate on time after the game."

The Blues will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they play host to Brentford at Stamford Bridge, looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League.
