Bundesliga match report Hertha Berlin v Bayern Munich 05 February 2021

Javi Martinez and Leon Goretzka missed out the tie after their tested positive for COVID-19, but Robert Lewandowski along with Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane set out up top for Bayern.

The Bavarians had a big chance to go ahead as early as the 11th minute from the spot after Sane went down under Rune Jarstein's challenge but Lewandowski scuffed the opportunity from 12 yards.

Hansi Flick's men inevitably took the lead ten minutes later after Kingsley Coman drilled a ball from Muller beyond Jarstein and into the far corner of the net.

Bayern felt a bit of pressure late in the first half, with a direct free-kick from Dodi Lukebakio putting Manuel Neuer in a spot of bother before he eventually parried the threatening attempt.

Coman should've had helped himself to a brace in added time after getting on the end of a cutback from out wide by Sane, but blazed the resultant strike.

Hertha introduced a substitution soon following the break, as an injury ended Jordan Torunarigha's outing and handed Omar Alderete a spot amongst the playing contingent.

The Bavarians looked to double their tally moments in the second half through a surging run near the area from Serge Gnabry, but Jarstein palmed to safety.

An evenly matched contest heading towards the end appeared on the horizon, as Matteo Guendouzi failed to bring the host level with a wayward finish from a one-on-one with Neuer.

Bayern nonetheless regained controlled of the final minutes to extend their lead at the top of the table with victory over the Old Lady.
