According to Foot Africa, Alger turned down a €3 million (approximately R62 million) bid from Saudi giants Al Hilal for talented attacker Tayeb Meziani.
The report suggests that the Algerian club carefully evaluated the offer before deciding to keep Meziani, who is seen as a vital part of their plans for the current season.
The Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 powerhouse are believed to hold Meziani in high regard and see him playing a crucial role under Mokwena’s guidance.
Having taken charge ahead of the 2025/26 season, Mokwena has been working on shaping his squad and is reportedly keen to retain his top performers.
Meziani’s involvement in the recent goalless draw with rival USM Alger shows the coach’s intention to keep him in the fold for this campaign.
