Kaizer Chiefs team up with Japanese car manufacturers Toyota

The Glamour club on Wednesday morning held a press briefing to reveal their latest partners, who will provide the club with a new fleet of Chiefs branded vehicles, while offering numerous other benefits as well.

One of those are aimed at the Amakhosi players and supporters, who will be afforded the luxury of purchasing brand new Toyota vehicles at discounted prices, according to club chairman Kaizer Motaung.

"This partnership is going to benefit both parties because it afford an opportunity for players and supporters to get vehicles at discounted rates," confirmed Motaung.

"In fact, not once [but] twice – two discounted rates – because they would have to go to the dealership and then from there they have to contact Toyota directly to get another bite on the cherry.

"So it's quite an interesting relationship that we've actually developed, and I'd like to say to Toyota: Welcome to our football journey, once more."

CEO and president of Toyota South Africa Andrew Kirby further added that, by partnering with one of South Africa's biggest football clubs, they hope to tap into their fan base and develop a closer relationship with current and future customers.

"We have been, for many years, looking to get involved in soccer and we're very, very pleased and priviledged to have this opportunity to do that with Kaizer Chiefs," he said.

"We both have very enthusiastic, loyal and passionate fans and, of course, we believe that the Kaizer Chiefs fans are our future customer base – current and future drivers.

"And we're very pleased to form a stronger relationship with them in particular, and support the development of soccer in South Africa."

Kirby also revealed that, as part of the sponsorship, Toyota will be handing over 20 vehicles to Chiefs, with one going to the club's footballer of the season each year, while 250 free, safe and secure parking spaces will be given to fans at home games.

"In terms of the sponsorship itself, it will take the form of prioviding 20 vehicles – one of those will be as a prize to the player of the season – and of course we will be activating this partnership in many other ways," he added.

"The Amakhosi supporters will also have the benefit of being allocated 250 free and secure parking bays for Toyota vehicle drivers attending Kaizer Chiefs home games at the FNB Stadium. This will be known as the Toyota zone."

Chiefs marketing manager Jessica Motaung also confirmed that these spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis, while Soweto Derbies will have special arrangements which will be communicated at the appropriate times.
