Phala, whose contract with SuperSport expires in June, has been linked with a move away from the Tshwane giants this January transfer window due to a lack of game-time.
Orlando Pirates, Highlands Park and Bidvest Wits have all been touted as possible destinations for the 32-year-old.
According to a source at Matsatsantsa, Phala is seemingly out of the plans of coach Kaitano Tembo.
"Thuso Phala is no longer training with SuperSport United," says the source.
"He last trained with the club before the Christmas break.
"There is still no official word from the club about his whereabouts.
"Some have mentioned that he is training with Highlands Park, but as I said there is no official word from the club as yet."
Phala has only made 11 appearances in all competitions in 2018/19.
