Amakhosi have handed left-back Happy Mashiane his big break by promoting him from the club's Multichoice Diski Challenge team to the senior side.
The 21-year-old, who was part of the Amajita outfit that lifted the 2017 COSAFA Cup in Madagascar, has been featuring for Chiefs' reserve team this season but has now penned his first professional contract for four-and-a-half years.
The youthful fullback joins the likes of Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Godfrey Walusimbi and Lehlogonolo Mirwa on the left side of defence, with Philani Zulu having been deployed as a midfielder under Ernst Middendorp.
The German has been monitoring Mashiane for several weeks and believes he is now ready for the professional ranks.
“I admire him for his attitude. He is not the kind of player who gets over excited on the ball, he does his business and applies the basics. I think it won’t take long before he gets a nod to play.”
