Golden Arrows target Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni

Arrows assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has confirmed the club are looking for a keeper after Maximilian Mbaeva recently broke his nose, but would not say the name of their target.

Kaizer Chiefs, who are without first-choice shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune for the rest of the season through injury, have also lately been linked with their former player Ngobeni.

"We are still looking for a new keeper, the process is still ongoing," Ncikazi said.

"What makes it difficult, the candidate is there, unfortunately we are competing with a team with a huge budget."

Ngobeni is way down the pecking order at Chloorkop amid competition for game-time with Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Reyaad Pieterse.

Nxikazi added that Abafana Bes'thende are also looking to add a striker to the roster in the January transfer window.

"It's a wish for us to get a new striker. We have a number of names and there's competition from other teams. We are confident."

The Durban-based outfit, in 10th spot on the topflight log, will next face Tjakstad JS in the Nedbank Cup last-32 at Kanyamazane Stadium on Saturday.
