The 24-year-old was not registered by the Bucs at the start of the campaign, having seemingly fallen out of favour at Mayfair, and will now start a new adventure in Europe, as confirmed by his new club.
“AEL FC announces the acquisition of the South African defensive midfielder Lehlogonolo Masalesa, who has signed a contract for two-and-a-half years,” read a statement released by the club.
Masalesa, who joined the Sea Robbers in 2012 from Bidvest Wits, made just 40 appearances for the Soweto giants in his four-years at the club, starting just seven games last season.
He will hope to resurrect his career at AEL, who were only this year promoted to the Greek Super League after topping the Football League table last season.
They currently lie two points above the relegation zone in 14th place in the Greek top-flight, having won just two out their 12 game splayed so far.
