Chippa United eye Botswana Premier League's top scorer Thatayaone Kgamanyane

Information coming from across the border is that Thatayaone Kgamanyane is being lined up by the Chilli Boys, who are looking for someone who can get them the goals next season.

The Gaborone United striker, who plays for the Botswana national team, finished the season as top scorer with 20 goals, a tally South African strikers can only dream about these days.

Chippa’s top scorer during the past season was midfielder Linda Mntambo with five goals and he joined the club in January from National First Division side Jomo Cosmos, which shows just how much they are in need of a striker to bang in the goals.

Abel Mabaso, a defender turned midfielder, scored four goals for the side. Strikers Katlego Mashego and Mxolisi Macuphu, who also joined from Cosmos in January, had the same amount of goals as Mabaso.

Both Mashego and Macuphu could leave the club before the new season, so Chippa will plan accordingly.

Another player Chippa are said to be interested in is Kgamanyane’s teammate Kabelo Seakanyeng.

Both Kgamanyane and Seakanyeng are in the Zebras’ COSAFA Cup squad.
