Bloemfontein Celtic to sign Zimbabwean and CAPS United left-back Ronald Pfumbidzai

Pfumbidzai, 22, is a natural left footer currently playing for Zimbabwean champions CAPS United and had a short stint with Hobro IK in Denmark last year.

Celtic have been thin on left-back options this season, so much so that they have resorted to using a natural winger Deon Hotto in that position in both of their opening league matches against Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows.

Pfumbidzai spent part of pre-season training with Celtic but has since returned home to sort out his papers.

Khumbulani Konco, the Celtic CEO, confirms that the deal to bring in Pfumbidzai is due to be finalised.

“It hasn’t been finalised as yet but it will be finalised soon,” he tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Both left-backs that Celtic started the past season with, Cheslyn Jampies and Sibusiso Mxoyana, are no longer with the club. The other left footers that the club has had in the last two years - Lyle Lakay, Thabang Matuka, Keamogetse Wolff and Vuyani Ntanga - have also since left.

Pfumbidzai played in the CAF Champions’ League group stages this year.
