Manchester City vs Manchester United - whose kits are better?

Manchester City and Manchester United are preparing to battle for the title in the upcoming campaign but which club won off the pitch, with the best kit?

What Happened?

The English giants have been two of the latest clubs to reveal their playing jerseys for next season, leading to rival fans comparing their respective kits and debating whose was better.

Anticipation for kit reveals is at an all-time high with most leagues starting in the next two or three weeks, leaving clubs with very little time to do their kit reveals before their first matches.

Manchester City's kits?

Pep Guardiola's side reignited their rivalry with United when they released their Puma 2021/22 home kit. The inside collar shows '93:20' in reference to Agüero's goal against QPR in 2012 which allowed City to edge their rivals to their first league title in 44 years.

The away kit was less controversial but it came with unique effects on the logos where it fades from pink to purple and then to blue that complement the attractive football played on the pitch.

Manchester United's kits?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side used a 'throwback' theme for both kits. The home gear was inspired by the home shirts of the 1960s, where the club enjoyed a highly successful period with the likes of George Best starring for the Red Devils.

While the away kit is a stylish modern take on the shirt worn between 1991-93 seasons, one of the first jerseys worn in Sir Alex Ferguson's 26-year tenure at the club.

Manchester: A City divided?

This rivalry has a 140-year history which started in a match between Newton Heath and West Gorton clubs on 12th November 1881, with both the teams later changing their names to Manchester United and City respectively.

While the derbies between both the clubs were very competitive right up until the start of the 90s, United's fortunes started to diverge from that of their city rivals.

Did you know?

On April 27, 1974, Manchester United legend Denis Law scored a goal for City to give them a 1-0 win over United, leaving the Old Trafford side relegated.

The goal technically did not relegate the Red Devils as it was mathematically impossible to escape relegation at that moment but the loss was a bitter pill to swallow.

Your thoughts, please?
