Lionel Messi returns to FC Barcelona training in style after transfer decision

Lionel Messi returned to FC Barcelona first-team training in style after his sensational transfer u-turn last week.

Messi, 33, looked set to leave the LaLiga giants after handing in a transfer request after their UEFA Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.

With head coach Quinque Setien and sporting director Eric Abidal both departing in the aftermath, Ronald Koeman was selected by president Josep Bartomeu to lead the shake-up, but Messi insisted he would like to move on.

Koeman has seemingly informed the individuals he'd like to keep while several are expected to follow Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez out the exit door in the coming weeks.

However, the Dutchman has been boosted by the news that Messi will be available for the 2020/21 season after he stepped down in his contract saga and refused to take the club to court to force an exit out of the 'respect'.

The record six-time Ballon d'Or winner will now lead the club's line with a potential new-look starting XI in the coming season as the Netherlands stars Memphis Depay and Gorgonio Wignaldum look set to acquired by Koeman.
