While Bafana Bafana will be watching the Africa Cup of Nations from home, the qualified nations will be battling it out for the continent's top prize in Cameroon. We take a look at the six venues that will host the spectacle!
The AFCON showdown is set to take place in early next year, and five stadiums have been selected to stage the event, including some iconic grounds with a rich history and newly-built stadiums.

The stadiums and cities
Cameroon's capital city Yaounde will stage the first opening match between the home side and Burkina Faso, and the city is home to two host stadiums, the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium as well as the Olembé stadium.
The Ahmadou Ahidjo multipurpose stadium with a capacity of 42,500 seats, and renovations of the facility began in 2016.
The Japoma Stadium in the Douala suburb is newly built with a capacity of 50 000 seats, and it has an indoor multipurpose sports hall, with two training fields, as well as one Olympic swimming complex and outdoor sports facilities.
Like most of the country's football grounds, the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam also has an athletics track and has the common features of an Olympic venue. It is, however, the smallest facility to host the AFCON as it has a population limit of 20 000 seats.
The Limbe Stadium in Limbe-Buea, unfortunately, had an explosion in January this year due to political instability, and it was reported that the reported attack did not have any fatalities, although several cars were destroyed.
