Teenage Hadebe nominated in USA

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe's name has come up for recognition in the Major League Soccer end of year awards just four months after moving to Houston Dynamo.

Hadebe moved to the MLS at the beginning of July after excelling at Turkish Super Lig club Yeni Malatyaspor who he joined from Chiefs.

After 17 appearances for MLS Western Conference club Houston Dynamo the Zimbabwe international has now been nominated for two awards for the 2021 MLS end of year awards.

Hadebe's name is the hat for the MLS Defender of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year.

He is the only player from the club who has been shortlisted for any of the two awards.

Though Houston struggled for most of the season finishing bottom of the Western Conference and failing to reach the final series play-offs, Hadebe's presence was felt as he put in impressive shifts.

Voting for the awards opened on Friday and will run until Monday, November 8 after which the MLS will release a list of finalists prior to the start of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Play-Offs.

The 26-year-old played 39 matches for Chiefs in the two years he spent at Chiefs.

Hadabe – one of the highest earners at Houston – missed the last four games for his club due to an ankle injury which will also force him to miss the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana next week.

Houston lost all the last four games that Hadebe missed.
