Tshepo Rikhotso called up to Bafana Bafana for Zambia friendly

Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has brought in a replacement for Luckyboy Mokoena, who was initially set to replace Thapelo Morena for the Zambia clash.

Bafana have turned to Bloemfontein Celtic defender Tshepo Rikhotso to fill the boots of the injured duo, who were withdrawn from the squad to face Chipolopolo in an international friendly in Lusaka on Saturday.

Morena suffered a groin strain in Mamelodi Sundowns' CAF Champions League preliminary round rout of Otoho d'Oyo just over a week ago, while Mokoena picked up a knock to his right knee in Highlands Park's goalless draw in their MTN8 semifinal against Polokwane City over the weekend.

Rikhotso mostly features at centre-back for Phunya Sele Sele, but Ntseki sees him as a viable option to cover for Thamsanqa Mkhize, with Thulani Hlathswayo also a third option for the full-back position.

The 26-year-old was part of the national under-23 side that qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics with Owen Da Gama, and could make his senior international debut if fielded against Zambia over the weekend.
