Thabo Senong begins Lesotho head coach job in Ethiopia

Thabo Senong's first assignment as head coach of Lesotho will come into the spotlight when Likuena take on Ethiopia in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bahir Dar today.

The former South Africa under-20 coach begins his tenure with a tricky clash away from home after being appointed to the top job last week.

Speaking during the press conference ahead of the game, the ex-Orlando Pirates development coach said his team is prepared and ready to face the Walias in their own backyard.

"It's part of the game to respect every opponent just to make sure that our players have a bit of information about their strengths and their weaknesses," he said.

"It's part of respecting opponents to make sure that we make the right preparations. It would be suicidal for us to come here and play against a closed book and so we are fully aware of the strength of the team.

"It's going to be a tough game for us, we are fully aware of their supporters who are going to rally behind the Ethiopian team. It's important for us to stay focused and stick to our game plan."
