Bafana supporters are set to experience a television blackout of this afternoon's 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
After last week agreeing a memorandum of understanding that sees the 182-ranked nation play their 'home' fixture in Port Elizabeth, it has now been confirmed that the national broadcaster will not have access to stream the match to its audience.
In a brief statement, SAFA's communications head Dominic Chimhavi explained that a breakdown in negotiations between the SABC and Sao Tome has resulted in a television blackout for local supporters.
"Seems there has been a breakdown of negotiations between the broadcaster [SABC] and Sao Tome [home team] regarding televising this afternoon's match. Since this is Sao Tome's home game, South Africa has no say in the matter," said Chimhavi in a communiqué.
A streaming link is expected to be released for those who are able to follow proceedings online, with further details on this still to be released.
