Bafana Bafana striker Kermit Erasmus has opened up about missing out on the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations squad after making the initial training squad.

Erasmus is back in the Bafana fold under new coach Molefi Ntseki and seems to be fired up to continue his good form shown at Cape Town City since arriving in January.

Despite his early promise in the second half of last season, after a turbulent two-year spell in Europe, the 29-year-old could not crack a place in Stuart Baxter's 23-man squad to do battle in Egypt.

Reflecting thereon upon arriving back in camp this week, the diminutive forward remained adamant that the disappointment was like water off a duck's back.

"Obviously I was disappointed, but I don't think anything at this point in time in my life can break me," said Erasmus.

"No setback; no failure or however you want to put it, can break me because I've been through things much worse than that.

"Coming from Europe and not getting to play regularly for almost two years of my career, so at this point in my life, I'm at a mental stage where I don't think anything can break me mentally.

"For me, yes I was disappointed, but it's not the end of the world. My life still continues; my kids are still healthy; I'm happy that I'm playing again and that's all that matters."
