AfriForum have moved to call for a judicial inquiry into the murder of former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
The probe by civil rights organisation AfriForum seems to be making headway in the unsolved case of Meyiwa's killing, which took place some five years ago on the East Rand of Johannesburg.

After taking up the case on request of the Meyiwa family just over a month ago, an update has been provided that could see new details uncovered in pursuit of cracking the mystery.
"The inquest will give Adv. Gerrie Nel and interested parties the opportunity to testify in court and cross-examine [witnesses]. It will help the magistrate find out who was responsible for Meyiwa's death," said Kallie Kriel, CEO of AfriForum.
"Unique cases require unique solutions and AfriForum hopes that this investigation will eventually lead to progress in the case."
Nel, meanwhile, believes this legal route is best suited due to the fact that relevant information from family members was apparently not included in the investigators' dossier to be used as evidence.
"We believe the murder can only be solved by looking at what happened in the house on that day in 2014 and not on the basis of allegations of robbers who came in," Nel added.

Sifiso Meyiwa, brother of Senzo, further stated: "We believe that the inquest will ensure that justice is done and that my brother's murderers can be held accountable.
