'We are lacking upfront' - Tembo after Sundowns loss

Richards Bay head coach Kaitano Tembo say the team need a bit of quality upfront following their defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Natal Rich Boyz lost their third game in four league matches after Junior Mendieta scored the only goal for Sundowns in the first stanza.

Tembo says they gave their all against the Brazilians but they are lacking quality to make the difference upfront.

"Look, it was difficult, it's always going to be difficult but I thought we gave as much as we could. I think we had our own moments but I thought especially in the final third the decision-making, maybe the final ball (let us down)," Tembo told SuperSport TV.

"But we played against a quality side that you can't give too much space, especially on the ball. Their movements sometimes gave us a lot of problems, probably they could have scored another goal with the way they got behind us.

"But I was happy with fight. I thought we fought but we just need a little bit of quality, especially upfront we're lacking."

The former SuperSport United head coach was asked if they have plans to make more signings and suggested that he hopes the management get him a striker who can start banging in the goals for them.

"Hey, look it's something I'll let the boss to make the decision but for now I think upfront we need someone. We really need someone who can really start giving us goals and give us that outlet that we're lacking," he said.

"You can see that we're trying to get there but we don't have a proper outlet that can give us direction," he added.
