Worst Foreign Striker - Ezenwa Otorogu (No. 14)

It still puzzles the mind what really attracted Orlando Pirates to this Nigerian striker, who is more remembered for being able to perform summersaults than his football abilities.

He has since gone to find a serene place to confuse the masses, moving between clubs in the Israeli second division.

Pirates could have cashed in by sending him out to the club that they shared the Johannesburg Stadium training facilities with at the time – The Golden Lions Rugby Club!

He somehow charmed his way into being signed at Pirates at the beginning of the 2010/11 season, but only managed four goals (all scored within five weeks between November and December 2010) in 11 starts and many substitute appearances.

He was fortunate to leave with three winners’ medals during the first year of the Double Treble champions era.

How Bloemfontein Celtic were also conned into signing him after Pirates offloaded remains a mystery. Maybe someone at Celtic was churned by his physique instead of his football abilities.

Luckily Celtic never offered him a long-term contract and at the end of the 2011/12 season they had seen enough of Otorogu, with the club deciding to wave the Nigerian goodbye after he failed to score in three starts and a further five substitute appearances.
