Vina Maphosa: Bloem Celtic cannot dominate Kaizer Chiefs in Macufe Cup

The clubs will contest the annual showpiece at Free State Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off at 15h00.

Amakhosi last won the event in 2011, a statistic that does not sit well with club spokesman Vina Maphosa.

"We are coming to the match with one thing in mind, winning," Maphosa told Chiefs' website.

"We can't let Bloemfontein Celtic dominate us in a match, be it a friendly or an official match.

“The last time we won the trophy was back in 2011, which is a worrying statistic. This doesn't gel well with who we are. We are cup kings and the number one football brand in South Africa."

Maphosa added that the Glamour Boys - who are minus Bafana Bafana trio Itumeleng Khune, Eric Mathoho and George Lebese - will field a strong team.

Steve Komphela's side edged Celtic 2-1 on aggregate in the MTN8 semi-finals earlier in the season.
