A number of PSL clubs have recently released players whose contracts ran up at the end of June, after deciding not to extend until the end of the 2019/20 season.
According to FIFA regulations, in order for players' contract to be legally compliant, their ending date must be June 30.

However, in these unprecedented times of Covid-19, the world football governing body has made provision for players to have their contracts extended until a date when each member association's domestic league is completed.

With the PSL's 2019/20 campaign set for a return, albeit a date is not yet known, several clubs have exercised this option on their players, while others have opted to set those no longer in their plans free.
snl24.com/kickoff has made up a select-XI of released players, all of whom make up a total estimated transfer value of R55.5-million in a 4-4-2 formation.

Amongst the most expensive are centre-back Siyanda Xulu, who has been released by Maritzburg United and is valued at R14.4-million, and winger Thabo Rakhale, who was released by Chippa United and is valued at R7.7-million.
