Shange, who joined the club during the off-season from relegated AmaZulu along with Nkosinathi Mthiyane, sustained the injury in the League game against Platinum Stars last month.
He is currently at home in KwaZulu-Natal to follow a rehabilitation programme that will speed up the process of his recovery.
Club COO Lukhanyo Mzinzi says he doubts Shange will play again this year.
“I doubt this year but we were told he may be out for three months,” Mzinzi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“He was tackled on his lower left leg. He's on the rehab now and the operation went very well, and he's currently at home in KZN.”
The former Golden Arrows attacking midfielder didn't score last season for Usuthu, and last scored in 2013/14 while at Abafana Bes’thende.
The Chilli Boys’ home League game against SuperSport United that was scheduled for this Saturday has been moved to Tuesday, October 27. Their next game is now Maritzburg United away on Wednesday, October 21.
