Orlando Pirates pursuit of Burkinabe striker takes a knock

Orlando Pirates have had an offer for a Burkinabe striker currently plying his trade in Ghana reportedly turned down by Asante Kotoko.

Pirates are believed to be interested in the services of Sougne Yacouba, with reports in Ghana suggesting that Kotoko are willing to let him go at the right price.

The Buccaneers have strong intent in their bid to end to their ongoing trophy drought, having made nine new signings ahead of the 2019/20 season thus far.

However, they are not done yet, with Kickgh.com having revealed that the Porcupine Warriors rejected a $100 000 (just under R1.4-million) bid for the 27-year-old striker.

Though, suggestions are that Bucs could still land their target if they increase their offer to upwards of R2-million.

The Soweto giants, who will also be looking to go further in the CAF Champions League, are also understood to be under siege from Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly over the services of Zambian forward Justin Shonga.

With Thamsanqa Gabuza having already departed, and young Zakhele Lepasa expected to remain following his loan spell last season, they will be itching to get some experience in the form of Yacouba, who bagged two goals and five assists in eight CAF Confederation Cup games last season.
