Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says the club's supporters must chill over results

The veteran defender was commenting following last night's 1-1 draw with AmaZulu in Durban, after which the fans vented their anger at coach Roger de Sa by throwing vuvuzelas and water bottles at him.

The draw also meant that Pirates have now gone five League games without a win, leaving them seven points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

The PSL is yet to comment on what – if any – punishment the club will face, especially considering their recent history of fan misbehaviour, but Lekgwathi says the players need their supporters more than ever.

"It is obviously not good enough for us to get a draw when we needed full points, but in the end we got a draw which will hopefully serve for something for us at the end of the season," he tells the club's official website.

"Our supporters have to understand that not all games will go our way. But what is important is that they should continue supporting the team even during the good and bad times because that is what true supporters do. With them by our side, we can overcome this temporary slump.

"We are a big club and winning has become the way of life, but our supporters need to understand that there will be times when victories will be hard to come by …it's during these times that we must all pull together."
