In this edition of My First, KickOff speaks with Pretoria Callies goalkeeper King Ndlovu.
The 31-year-old South African has played for former PSL Premiership teams such as Jomo Cosmos, Black Leopards, and Maritzburg United.
My First School:
"I attended Boikanyo Primary School, which is located in Garankuwa. Fortunately, I enjoyed my time there, I didn't notice anything different. It was fine."
My First Kiss:
"[Laughs] I was 12 years old, and the kiss was from my girlfriend."
My First Favourite Club:
"I grew up in Pretoria and am still with Mamelodi Sundowns. I played a few games against them, and of course, when you're in a battle, there's no time to admire your opponent's skills."
My First Child:
"I had my first child in 2020. She's a girl named Moneoa. I think I was 21 years old when she was born."
My First Soccer Boots:
"My first soccer boots were Nike Scorpions, bought for me by my parents when I was 11 years old. They were grey in colour."
My First Red Card:
"I have never received a red card professionally. I always try to avoid kicking fellow professionals."
My First Own Goal:
"I have never scored an own goal, but I must admit there are a few own goals scored against me by my own teammates [laughs]. They all tell me, 'It was a mistake' [laughs]. It mostly happens when they attempt to clear crosses."
How does it feel for a goalkeeper when his own player scores against him?
"Aaah, it's the same feeling you experience when your opponent scores against you, so it feels just like conceding any other goal."
My First Goal:
"I have never scored a goal, I only have scored during penalty shootouts."
My First Individual Award:
"I was named Man of the Match against Free State Stars when I was still with Black Leopards."
My First Trophy with a Club:
"I have never won one."
My First Car:
"I bought a Toyota Tazz in 2012. It was the only car I could afford at the time, and it cost me R35,000."
