Mark Mayambela to honour Cecil Lolo's legacy at Ajax Cape Town

Mayambela and Lolo, who passed away last year in car accident, were childhood friends.

The 28-year-old Mayambela penned a two year contract Ajax this week and told snl24.com/kickoff he always had a desire to play in the same team as Lolo.

"Everytime I step out at Ikamva the memories of Cecil always come to mind," says Mayambela who will be donning jersey number 22 at Ajax.

"I always wanted to play with him in the same team. When I was in Johannesburg I wanted him to go and join one of the big teams because I always believed he was a quality player.

"There are some other projects lined up in Cape Town where we grew up that we will be staging to honour Lolo," he added.

Mayambela went on to say that he is already impressed with the set up at Ajax Cape Town and is ready to add value to the Urban Warriors.

"The amount of young talent here is amazing," he stated. "I believe I am in the right place.

"I worked with with Roger [De Sa] at Pirates. He is a great coach and that was another influence to join Ajax. I am ready to give my best for the club to repay the faith they have shown me."
