KickOff.com picks the best 11 players from the 2018/19 season

The snl24.com/kickoff team picks the best 11 players from the 2018/19 season.

Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Onyango spent a lot of time nursing injury or being rested, but his numbers are quite good. He conceded just 10 goals in 17 matches, and kept eight clean sheets.

Thami Mkhize (Cape Town City)

He's arguably the best right back in the country right now. Mkhize played a key role both in defence and attack, contributing with three goals and as many assists.

Happy Jele (Orlando Pirates)

He may have missed out on a Defender of the Season nomination, but Jele was without a doubt one of the best defenders in the past season. The 32-year-old helped the Buccaneers to 10 clean sheets in the Absa Premiership, and five in knockout competitions. The experienced campaigner missed just one league match.

Ricardo Nascimento

The Brazilian centre-back is key to starting the build-ups from the back for Sundowns. He is calm in possession of the ball and knows how to pick a pass. He was named Defender of the Season after contributing to 11 clean sheets in 25 league matches. He scored four goals.

Sifiso Hlanti (Bidvest Wits)

A nominee for Defender of the Season, Hlanti was consistent throughout the season for the Clever Boys. The Bafana Bafana left back played 34 matches in all competitions, scored one goal and chipped in with two assists.

Gaston Sirino (Mamelodi Sundowns)

The South American star was a nightmare for the opposition defenders, using his skill to create openings for his teammates. He scored eight goals and had 20 assists in all competitions, including the CAF Champions League.

Hlompho Kekana (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Captain fantastic was, as usual, consistent for Sundowns in the middle of the park. He was rewarded with the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season award, after featuring in 29 of Downs' league matches.

Jabulani Maluleke (Polokwane City)

The influential Rise and Shine skipper is happy to let his feet do the talking, rather than to go on about not being given the recognition he deserves.  He finished the campaign with four goals and nine assists in 28 matches.

Themba Zwane (Mamelodi Sundowns)

A nominee for PSL Footballer and Absa Premiership Players' Player of the Season awards, Zwane has matured as a player and is a man head coach Pitso Mosimane can rely on to pick the team up when things are not going well. He had four goals and six assists in domestic competitions.

Thembinkosi Lorch (Orlando Pirates)

The PSL Footballer of the Season had his best ever season in top flight football and deservedly won the biggest individual prize. Lorch was Pirates' top scorer, showing a lot of maturity in his finishing.

Mwape Musonda (Black Leopards)

The spot upfront goes to none other than Mwape Musonda, who finished the season as the top scorer. The Zambian scored important goals that ensured Black Leopards stay in the Absa Premiership.
