Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has opened up on the poor performances that have seen his side drop seven points in their last three league matches.
Chiefs dropped down to 11th position on the DStv Premiership standings following their 2-1 defeat at home to Cape Town City on Wednesday as they continued their poor domestic form.
Amakhosi have managed a paltry 25 points from 22 games thus far, despite showing promising form in the CAF Champions League, where they have made history after initially reaching the group stages and further going on to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Their latest results also saw their eight-match unbeaten run, which started in the Champions League against Petro Luanda back in March, brought to a halt, and Khune has bemoaned their costly defensive mistakes that have led to "silly goals".
"The eight-game unbeaten run, on Wednesday against Cape Town City, we gave it away. I think we have to minimise the mistakes because every time we concede goals – if you look at it – it's through lapses of concentration," said Khune in his media address.
"So, if we can just concentrate more and minimise mistakes then I think we can avoid conceding those silly goals, but it takes the whole team to stay focusses and switched on throughout the 90 minutes.
"But ja, as a goalkeeper, obviously you have to lead from the back and you just have to keep all the players on their toes, keep reminding them to stay switched on."
