Ex-Royal AM man tiptoes towards 40s with new PSL deal

A former defender and captain of the now forgotten Royal AM has joined a club in the PSL, ready to begin a new chapter in his football career.

It is common in South African football for former top-flight players to transition to the Motsepe Foundation Championship towards the end of their careers.

Following Royal AM's expulsion from the Premier Soccer Leagu owing to a myriad of challenges, the most notable of which was a debt owed to the South African Revenue Service (SARS), many of their erstwhile players are now seeking new opportunities.

KickOff.com has learned that Lesego Manganyi is currently training with Gomora United, who are newly promoted in the second tier space.

The Alexandra-based side has had a decent start to life in their new surroundings having won one and lost one from their first two fixtures of the season.

As a result, they sit sixth on the standings, with their next game against Pretoria University FC at TUT Stadium in the capital on September 14.

"Yes, Sam Manganyi is here and is part of Gomora United,” confirmed a source.

“He is currently waiting for the PSL to issue him a clearance and declare him a free agent.
