He was 51.
Baloyi died on Monday while back home in Limpopo just hours after being discharged from a hospital in the province.
According to information from his family, he had been admitted on August 15 complaining of stomach pains.
His funeral will be held on Saturday near Solomondale, Limpopo while a memorial service was due for Thursday evening in Hillbrow, Johannesburg where he worked for Mafadi Properties as a building manager.
Baloyi was born in Solomondale, Limpopo, and started his career with Bosveld United before moving to Real Rovers at the beginning of 1995 at a time when the Zimbabwean trio of John Phiri, Misheck Mapika, and Austin Juwayeyi also arrived at the club.
Upon his arrival at Rovers, the club was coached by Shepherd Murape and had Andries Sebola, Rellie Mola, Alex Bapela, Timothy Nkosi, Mandla Mabena, Gerald Raphahlela, and Mwila Kambuania.
He stayed on at Rovers until the end of the 1997/98 season having been captain after Bapela left for Sundowns.
Baloyi then moved to Jomo Cosmos for the following year.
After a season he moved to Mother City for the 1999/00 season but left midway through the season to join Santos in January 2000.
In his best season at Santos, he was part of a team of giants at the back that had him, Musa Otineo, John Mbidzo, Edries Burton, and Jean Sebastien Bax at a time when Naisef Morris was coming up
When Santos won the league in the 2001/2002 season, he played a single match before leaving at the end of that campaign and heading back to his home to join Black Leopards.
After a season at Leopards (2002/03), he moved to City Pillars in the first division where his career ended.
During his time in top-flight football, he started 210 games and scored eight goals.
