He left South Africa with a mission to make a mark in Botswana and now Serame Letsoaka is doing just that, with major changes being implemented.
Letsoaka wants to improve the standard of the coaching in the Botswana Premier League and has now come up with mandates for coaches wishing to work in the top tier.
Going forward, no coach will be allowed to coach in the Premier League without a CAF B Licence, and an A Licence will be a requirement from next year. Foreign coaches, meanwhile, are expected to have higher qualifications and nothing lower than an A Licence.
"All Premier League coaches will be accredited by the BFA Technical and development department and from next year A Licence will be a requirement to coach in Premier League," he is quoted as saying by Killerpassbw.com.
"Currently we have 24 local coaches undergoing CAF A Licence assessment. We have already started the process of training instructors within the BFA and there is also an upcoming course for women football and FIFA Goalkeeper trainers course coming in October."
From January 2020, clubs will be required to have under-19 teams within their ranks to feed the senior sides. Letsoaka also wants to make it mandatory for clubs to register under-20 players on their roster.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars coach is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure football in Botswana improves.
