Ethiopian striker attracting strong interest from DStv Premiership big boys

snl24.com/kickoff has established that both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have stepped up their chase for Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nassir.

Ethiopia are back in South Africa for their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ghana at Orlando on Thursday before crossing the border to face Zimbabwe in their final Group G clash.

Striker Abubeker Nassir has yet again sparked interest in his services from top sides in the country.

The 21-year-old played from start to finish in both qualifiers against Bafana but will be followed with intense interest on Thursday at Orlando with considerations being made to seal a deal ahead of the next transfer window.

Nassir currently plays his football for Ethiopian club Coffee for whom he scored 29 goals in 22 games last season on his way to being crowned the league's top goals scorer, Best Young Player and the Most Valuable Player.

He was also the CECAFA Under-23 Challenge Best Player.

Those tasked with making an informed decision on him will want to have a close up on how he fares against top internationals brought by Ghana instead of what he faces weekly in the Ethiopian Premier League.

Coffee – one of the biggest clubs in Ethiopian football – have already down offers from AZAM of Tanzania while clubs from Algeria and Egypt have taken an interest as well.

Nassir also has offers from Georgia and a club in the Spanish lower divisions.

Coffee have already named their price (figures already seen by this website) on their star player who signed a three-year contract last year and will be patient enough in waiting for it to be met.

Just like Chiefs and Sundowns, Orlando Pirates have also made enquiries in the past.
