DStv Premiership match report Chippa United v Maritzburg United 07 November 2021

Chippa made three changes, as they recalled Bienvenu Eva Nga, Sammy Seabi and Riaan Hanamub while the Team of Choice made only one alteration, bringing back Brandon Theron.

Theron nearly put Maritzburg on the back foot as early as the second minute after his cross-field pass was intercepted but shot-stopper Marcel Engelhardt came off his line quickly to avert danger.

The hosts were gaining attacking momentum and had a chance to go ahead in the 20th minute after Eva Nga went through on goal but he was denied by Engelhardt, who quickly came off his line.

The Team of Choice were forced to make a change at the back on the half-hour mark after Ryan Rae got injured and he was replaced by Riyaaz Ismail, as the first ended without a goal.

Chances were hard to come by early in the second stanza but Bongokuhle Hlongwane came close to breaking the deadlock for Maritzburg just before the hour-mark with a volley that clipped the crossbar.

Chippa showed the initiative to get on the scoresheet with a a double attacking change 22 minutes before time, as Thokozani Sekotlong replaced Mogakolodi Ngele and Jemondre Dickens came on for Eva Nga.

However, the visitors had a chance to snatch the winner seven minutes before time with a strike from Ismail that was smothered by goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali and the sides shared the spoils in the end.
