Vilakazi has been working in the club’s development and moves up to the first team in what reads as an exchange of roles with Sithole.
Serame Letsoaka – who is said to have made the recommendation for the changes – remains the head coach of Ea Lla Koto, who have a difficult trip to Cape Town City tonight.
Apparently Vilakazi and Letsoaka both hold teaching qualifications and have a history stretching back to their playing days with the club.
Sithole, a long-serving employee at Stars, has only been assistant in the first team since January having been brought up after the appointment of Letsoaka.
Stars are in genuine danger, sitting just a point above bottom club Highlands Park with four games remaining.
