New Sekhukhne United defender Daniel Cardoso, who spent seven years at Kaizer Chiefs has shared some advice for AmaKhosi's new recruits.
Chiefs have had a busy transfer period that saw the arrival of seven new players at Naturena for the 2022/23 season. Siyethemba Sithebe was signed on a pre-contract agreement from AmaZulu while Ashely Du Preez was also roped in from Stellenbosch FC alongside teammate Zitha Kwanika.
They've been joined by the trio of Dillan Solomons, George Matlou and Kamohelo Mahlatsi from neighbours Swallows. Checking off the list was the marquee capture of Sekhukhune United's Yuusuf Maart.
"I would say they need to be focused and humble. Just do what you need to do and focus on the football. Leave everything else out, the partying and going out a lot. Just focus on your football and you can have a great and long career. It's a great club to be at," Cardoso explains in the latest issue of Kick Off Magazine.
The 33-year-old defender was one of Chiefs' most reliable players during his time with the club, racking up over 200 for AmaKhosi. For three consecutive seasons, made more appearances for Chiefs than any other player, including playing every single match during the 2019/20 season.
He's one of 12 players who have been released by Chiefs last month and has since joined Sekhukhune United. Other players released included striker Samir Nurkovic, Dumisani Zuma, Lebohang Manyama and Daniel Akpeyi among others.
The centre-back will hope to debut for his new club when Sekhukhune United travel to KwaZulu-Natal to take on Maritzburg United on 6 August in the first DStv Premiership weekend of the season. Chiefs will also be in KZN on the day to take on Royal AM for their first match of the campaign.
