Bheka Phakathi's funeral arrangements confirmed by Umvoti

The 43-year-old died in a car crash in Seven Oak, Greytown on Sunday. He was on his way to training at Umvoti FC, who he had just coached to ABC Motsepe League honours in KwaZulu-Natal.

The club's manager Bongani Msoni told snl24.com/kickoff: "Yes, Bheka Phakathi’s memorial service will take place tomorrow at Durban’s City Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

“His funeral will take place on Sunday at Yellowwood Park Civic Centre from 10am to 1pm."

Phakathi, who obtained a UEFA B license, was part of the Golden Arrows side that was first promoted to the Premier Soccer League in the 1999/2000 campaign.

He then joined Orlando Pirates in 2002/03 and in his first season with the club Roy Barreto’s men won the league.

Phakathi, who also coached Royal Eagles as interim coach, was the assistant coach of Shaun Bartlett when Arrows won the National First Division title in 2014/15.

On top of coaching Umvoti FC, Phakathi was also an analyst and commentator for SABC vernacular radio station Ukhozi FM.
