Grobler secures back-to-back wins for Sekhukhune

Sekhukhune United’s winning start to the Betway Premiership season continued following a 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.

Chibuike Ohizu and Mpho Rammala were recalled by Eric Tinkler, replacing Linda Mntambo and Bradley Grobler following the opening day win over Orlando Pirates, while the visitors dropped Nhlanhla Mgaga and Seluleko Mahlambi.

Tinkler’s men could’ve snatched the opener after goalkeeper Ira Tape mis-judged a long ball from a throw-in, but the flight of the delivery evaded Keletso Makgalwa.

Makgalwa’s lively spell continued as he started a move from deep in order to penetrate the defensive-block of the Rockets, but there was no end product.

Galaxy were reduced to shots from range in the first period, with Sphesihle Maduna getting space a few yards from the centre of midfield and slamming over the target.

The Rockets were fired up five minutes from the break. as they forced a double save from goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner following efforts from Qobolwakhe Sibande and Solomon Letsoenyo.

Babina Noko went to the bench after 60 minutes and introduced Bradley Grobler, Miguel Timm and skipper Mntambo.

Babina Noko went close to getting the opener five minutes later following a powerful free-kick by Rammala, but Ira Tape was able to pull off the save.

Sibande then got an equally perfect chance two minutes later when he raced through on goal following a through pass and sent his shot well wide of the net.

Babina Noko seized control inside the final ten minutes after Grobler pounced on a loose ball following a spill by Tape and finished from close-range to seal back-to-back wins in the league.
