Stellenbosch FC jumped to third spot on the Betway Premiership table with a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants FC on Tuesday evening.
Goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke earned a rare start for Stellies in place of the suspended Sage Stephens, while Gallants gave goalkeeper Kagiso Mlambo start from the front having replaced Washington Arubi in the first half against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Marumo aimed a strong start ten minutes in through Junior Zindoga from the area, but he went high and wide of target having feed off Sekela Sithole's pass.
The Maroons overcame the rather slow opening and applied a decent chance when Sanele Barns pulled to the right of the box to stung the gloves of Mlambo.
Gabadinho Mhango launched a swift response courtesy of a clever shot from the area in the matter of minutes, but Masuluke drew a stop.
In the second half, Marumo made a substitution and brought on Rewaldo Prins in the place of striker Sede Dion whilst Stellies remain unchanged.
Maroons enjoyed a lively opening two minutes as Devin Titus very nearly broke the deadlock from the right of the area, but he fluffed his lines.
Titus amended three minutes later when he pounced on a rebound from the post following a shot by Ashley Cupido and finished comfortably for his sixth league goal of the campaign.
Maroons targeted another goal midway through the half with a smart header inside the area by Brian Onyango, but Mlambo thwarted the defender's effort.
However, Steve Barker's men enjoyed a comfortable closing exchanges to fulltime and wrapped up the win to go third on the table.
