Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC played to a 1-1 draw in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze made a return for the host, while Stellies provided four changes from the loss to Kaizer Chiefs, with Langelihle Phili, Thato Khiba, Henri Stanic and Lesiba Nku getting starts.
Maroons were ahead in the earlier stages when Phili pulled to the wide of the area and dropped a shoulder to finish expertly from a tight angle.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse could’ve drawn level minutes afterwards through a first-time volley on the edge of the area by Kgomotso Mosadi, but goalkeeper Sage Stephens palmed away.
Mosadi proved decisive minutes to the half-hour mark when he attacked a cross to the near post of the area and beat Stephens with a firm header.
The former Sekhukhune United striker nearly grabbed a second goal on the brink of halftime with a powerful attempt wide of the area, but he struck the side-netting.
Magesi continued their energetic spell and almost grabbed the lead a minute into the second period through a close-range attempt from Lehlohhonolo Mtshali, but Stephens was equal to the effort.
The Maroons remained on the back-foot moments later and survived another scare when a header from Wonderboy Makhubu narrowly missed target.
Stellenbosch made a double change inside the closing quarter, with Khomotjo Lekoloane coming on for Phili and Ibraheem Jabaar replacing Chumani Butsaka.
With time running out, both teams went looking for the winner but in the end had to settle for a share of the spoils, as they both remain winless after two matches.
